Why join HAODS?

There are few experiences that can top taking part in a stage show, either on stage or off. At HAODS we are a lively, friendly society that is keen to welcome new members. Many friendships have been formed over the years at HAODS, and one of the most frequent pieces of feedback we receive from our members is the real sense of community and family that we have established.

A great deal of time and effort goes into creating a HAODS show, and coming together with like-minded people to accomplish a common goal is incredibly rewarding.

Cast of Sister Act 2021

I’ve never performed before – will this affect my membership?

Not at all!

Whether you are a seasoned amateur or have never set a foot on the stage before, you will be most welcome and encouraged by all in our award winning society.

Do I need to audition to join?

There are no auditions for membership to the Society. We are all amateurs and we aim at the highest standards of performance and production in our shows. If you are interested in performing in one of our shows, auditions are held for both the principal (main) parts and a simpler group audition if you’d like to take part in the chorus. These usually take place around four or five months before the show is performed. The whole process is very friendly and informal and takes place in our main rehearsal studio at HAODS House in Hurst Road, Horsham.

HAODS have an open audition and casting policy, and unless a particular characteristic is stated within the character descriptions, we welcome auditions from everyone and actively encourage auditions from people currently underrepresented within amateur dramatics.

What if I want to join the backstage crew?

Then please let us know in your membership form, and our new members coordinator can introduce you to our incredible backstage crew! With weekly meet-ups to discuss ongoing and future productions, you’ll be working directly with the production team and cast to ensure the show looks as good as it possibly can be!
